[![](/assets/images/icons/back-to.svg)](https://www.lemonly.com/blog) Hello from the 2025 Slice crew!

Maddie Murphy and I (Miriam Drabek) are thrilled to be joining the Lemonly team as this summer’s [Slice interns](https://www.lemonly.com/about/jobs/internship). We spent our first few weeks learning the ropes, and now Maddie is working organizational magic as a member of the account service team, and I’m spending my time writing and editing as a member of the content team.

Our welcome to Lemonly wouldn’t be complete without the classic Q&A, so read on for our answers to Lemonly’s burning questions.

## The basics

First things first.

### Tell us a little about your background. Hometown? College and major? Past jobs?

**Miriam:** I was born and raised in Savage, MN, which is a suburb of the Twin Cities that in no way reflects its name. “Minnesota nice” is in my blood. In the fall, I’ll start my senior year at Dordt University, where I study English and work as a TA, proofreader, and newspaper copy editor.

**Maddie:** I’m from Marshall, MN, not too far from Sioux Falls. No matter where life takes me, I will hang on to my Minnesotan accent forever! I will be entering my senior year at South Dakota State University in the fall (Go Jacks!), where I study advertising, marketing, and entrepreneurship. At SDSU, I work both as an advertising sales manager for our school newspaper and an admissions ambassador.

### What do you like to do in your free time?

**Miriam:** I love crafting!! Right now I’m learning to crochet, but over the years I’ve dabbled in wire sculpting, jewelry making, calligraphy, finger knitting, and painting. I also love reading, writing, and playing Zelda video games.

**Maddie:** I’m a social butterfly and love to be surrounded by people! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going shopping and thrifting, working out, being outdoors, and making the next best gluten-free meal.

![Miriam and Maddie enjoying hobbies, travel, and friends](https://d2xoo2expjpog9.cloudfront.net/generalUploads/Blog/250714_Lemonly_Blog_Meet-the-Interns-2025_Photos-1.png?mode=fit&pos=center-center&w=50&h=31&c=6c36f0d4&v=10c8e9064513cfffc7464b3f52f8abdc0fca613b8d047f05757eea87acac383e)

## A few favorite things

Next up, the things we can’t live without.

### What’s your favorite app? Appetizers or mobile apps are both fair game.

**Miriam:** Cheese fries. Hands down. Especially if they’re from Outback Steakhouse, but I’ll accept them from almost anywhere. For mobile apps, I love [Finch](https://finchcare.com). It’s a self-care app where you take care of a little bird by taking care of yourself, and your little bird can be friends with your friends’ little birds, and it’s really lovely.

**Maddie:** I’m a chip and dip girl, tried-and-true. As for mobile apps, I’m often knee-deep in [Pinterest](https://www.pinterest.com/), creating boards for every life occasion. If I’m not doing that, I love a good scroll on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com).

### What’s your favorite genre of music to work to?

**Miriam:** I usually pick something instrumental because I get far too distracted by lyrics. I love the [Lo-Fi Sunday](https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/lo-fi-sunday/pl.7525e7e5e04f44269ce48ae05d39d209) and [Piano Chill](https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/piano-chill/pl.cb4d1c09a2df4230a78d0395fe1f8fde) playlists on Apple Music.

**Maddie:** I’m not much of a music person; I usually work best in silence or with a background movie!

### Do you have a favorite podcast, blog, or source of inspiration you’d recommend?

**Miriam:** My current favorite podcast is a short story podcast called [*LeVar Burton Reads*](https://levarburton.com/podcasts/). In each episode, the host reads a short story with sound effects and music. The stories are super diverse and almost always get me thinking critically.

**Maddie:** My favorite podcast is called [*What We Said*](https://dearmedia.com/shows/what-we-said/). It’s the perfect mix of pop culture, fashion, and girlbossing. It always gives me a good laugh, but it also helps me reflect on how to be the best version of myself as a friend, family member, and coworker.

## Life at Lemonly

How we got here and why we’re excited to stay.

### What drew you to Lemonly?

**Miriam:** The Lemonly voice! I started looking at the internship because it involved writing (yay writing!), but I knew I had to apply when I dove into the website and found myself surrounded by voice-y writing and great vibes.

**Maddie:** Lemonly’s people-centeredness, in both their internal team and their external client work. I have been a long-time fan and follower of Lemonly, and even from the outside, I could see how much the company values its people! The atmosphere, type of work, and structure of Lemonly are like nothing else. Being able to intern here is certainly a dream come true! Oh, and maybe because the [Green Bay Packers](/work?client=green-bay-packers) are a client, Go Pack Go!

### Name one dream client and why Lemonly should work with them.

**Miriam:** I think Lemonly and [Owala](https://owalalife.com) would make a great team. We could make an infographic on the different types of Owala water bottles or an animated video explaining Owala’s unique features. I think it would be super fun to play with Owala’s signature color combos.

**Maddie:** Selfishly, I would love it if Lemonly would work with a fashion brand. I think Levi’s would be a great Lemonly client. Creating content to show the history and evolution of their company or their jean-making process would be really fun.

### Share a goal you have for the summer.

**Miriam:** One of my goals this summer is to expand my repertoire of writing voices. I spend a lot of time in college developing my own writing voice, but I’m excited to learn to tailor my writing voice to clients’ brands and audiences.

**Maddie:** This summer, my main goal is to gain new experiences and build new connections! I hope to push myself out of my comfort zone and capitalize on all of the networking opportunities I will be presented with here at Lemonly. I am excited to meet new people and learn new things!

![Miriam and Maddie enjoying friends and social events](https://d2xoo2expjpog9.cloudfront.net/generalUploads/Blog/250714_Lemonly_Blog_Meet-the-Interns-2025_Photos-2.png?mode=fit&pos=center-center&w=50&h=31&c=b469494b&v=23b168e5c9bea183835a79e8e9d0b9cb63951edc8f4e7aa013e51fdef98ffe79)

## Diving deeper

Now we’re getting to the good stuff.

### Name something on your bucket list.

**Miriam:** I so so badly want to see *How to Train Your Dragon* with a live orchestra. HTTYD is the comfort movie of my childhood, and when I think about hearing the theme song from a live orchestra… literal chills.

**Maddie:** Attending a Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field would make my life complete! Preferably not in the dead of winter, though.

### As a kid, what did you say you were going to be when you grew up?

**Miriam:** I was convinced I was going to be a professional baker and win *Cupcake Wars*.

**Maddie:** Basically my whole life I was convinced that I was going to be a doctor, but once I got to college, taking years of chemistry and biology classes just did not seem fun anymore…

### What is one thing about yourself that would surprise people?

**Miriam:** I was on a juggling team in high school that competed in an international competition against one of the best juggling teams in the world.

**Maddie:** I am a big sports fan! I have always loved to watch and follow along with college and professional sports, and I usually surprise people with my random knowledge of players and teams.

### What question are you dying to answer that we haven’t asked?

**Miriam:** What’s your favorite dad joke?

**Maddie:** Are you an early bird or a night owl?

### What’s the answer?

**Miriam:** “Clever” word play. Birds. This dad joke has it all. Get ready to laugh. Or roll your eyes. Okay, here it is: The sound of a musician on a stage bounces off the walls of the space to surround the audience. The sound of a pigeon on a stage does not do this. The reason: a coo sticks.

**Maddie:** Both? I love to stay up late when the rest of the world is asleep; it is when I feel most productive! But I will also gladly wake up early. Unfortunately for my nervous system, I thrive on little sleep and love to be busy!

## And the most important question of all…

This is the moment you’ve all been waiting for.

### If you had to pick one for the rest of your life: burritos or pizza? Why?

**Miriam:** I’m going to hesitantly say pizza. I love a good burrito, especially if there’s queso involved, but pizza is more diverse, and I’m not sure I could live without fruit pizza.

**Maddie:** Pizza, hands down. Not only is it one of my favorite foods, there are so many ways to diversify it!
