Get a slice of the Lemonly life

Searching for a seriously sweet summer internship where you can flex and grow your skills? Lemonly wants to hear from you! We’re looking for the zestiest young minds in the game to help us do top-tier work for our clients.

This year, we’re looking for internship applicants with skills in design, video editing, and content writing. Check out the details below.

What do Lemonly interns do?

  • Help craft fun and engaging visual content like infographics, videos, social media posts, and more
  • Work directly with clients, developing effective relationships with the cool people who trust us with their stories
  • Pitch and execute ideas for Lemonly marketing content
  • Learn from some of the best creatives in the business
  • Set their own goals for the summer and collaborate with the team to accomplish them

Slice interns usually start their summer learning the ropes creating an infographic of their choice. Check out some awesome examples of past interns’ projects below.

2026 internship positions

For summer 2026, we’ll select our Slicers from a pool of candidates under these categories:

  • Visual designers with inspiring illustration and information design skills to help us make some of the world’s best infographics
  • Video editors with post-production prowess to help us shine on YouTube and assist with other video work (bonus points for animation experience)
  • Marketing-minded go-getters with strong writing skills (and perhaps a budding interest in social media management and/or sales)

*The final roles we fill will depend on the candidates we get and the skills that stand out.

Design intern

Tasks might include:

  • Designing infographics, microcontent, storyboards, and other marketing materials for a broad range of clients
  • Creating visual content for Lemonly using our own brand
  • Providing feedback to other designers and team members

The right person for this role is:

  • Curious about all things design
  • A strong illustrator and information designer
  • Collaborative and adventurous

Video/animation intern

Tasks might include:

  • Editing and post-production for live-action videos
  • Creating motion graphics for mixed-media videos
  • Assisting on live-action video shoots for Lemonly and our clients
  • Helping with other animation projects depending on skills

The right person for this role is:

  • Excited to dig in on one big project
  • Eager to learn new tools and processes
  • Ready to elevate content and tell stories through video
  • Comfortable working solo and in collaboration with our video team

Content marketing intern

Tasks might include:

  • Writing blogs and website content within a content management system (bonus points for CMS experience, but it’s not a prerequisite!)
  • Social media management (planning and posting) on behalf of Lemonly
  • Email newsletter writing
  • Assistance with script writing for Lemonly’s YouTube videos

The right person for this role is:

  • A stickler for grammar and brand voice
  • Excited about Lemonly’s work and culture
  • Ready to jump in and learn what’s on-brand for our brand
  • Brimming with ideas
  • Comfortable working across several different teams

Remember: We hire based on your skills, not your major. Past Slice interns have often had majors you might expect, like graphic design, advertising, or journalism, but they’ve also studied things like biology, exercise science, and entrepreneurial studies.

How to apply

Applications are open until January 26th, 2026 (at 9:00am CT, if you want to be specific about it).

To apply, hit us up at jobs@lemonly.com with an email including:

  • Your résumé
  • A cover letter
  • A link to your creative portfolio or some attached work samples (design work for designers, video work for video editors, writing samples for content marketers)
  • Your response to the following prompt ✨

Prompt: What do you nerd out about?

Using whatever tools you want (illustration, words, a video recording of yourself, finger puppets, whatever), tell us about something you’re really, really interested in.

Flags of the world. The Real Housewives. Balatro. Penguins. K-pop. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of 1911. Skincare science. America’s largest ball of twine. There’s a subject you know a lot about, and we want to hear about it. Show off your skills and help us get to know you a bit.

A little bit about Lemonly

Hello! We’re Lemonly, a 14-year-old graphic design and visual content agency headquartered in Sioux Falls, SD. Infographics are our specialty — whether they’re static, animated, interactive, or otherwise — and we bring that infographic eye to everything we create.

The Lemonheads donned some fun Western wear for our annual company retreat in 2024 at Joy Ranch, featuring a Wild West murder mystery. Yeehaw!

Thanks to our laser focus on visual stories and our truly talented team, we get to work with exciting clients around the world. Check out our portfolio to see some of the sweet visuals we create for clients all over.

Some of our clients:

We love doing incredible work for exceptional clients, but we also want to be the best place to work in the Midwest. We make that happen with a killer company culture and a talented team that’s always excited to welcome interns and cheer them on throughout the summer.

Why we have an internship program

It’s fun and functional! We love getting fresh perspectives from a new crop of creative minds each summer and sharing our own wisdom at the same time.

The Lemonheads have experience in: Graphic design, animation, photography, videography, copywriting, research, project management, sales, client relations, client soothing, musical theatre, marketing, entrepreneurship, ballet, mixology, appearing on game shows, tufting, tabletop games, DJing, dog-rearing, and lots more.

Fun fact: 11 out of 24 full-time Lemonheads were once Slice interns. (And all 24 are cool and smart and fun to be around.)

Slice FAQs

Our Slice interns will start May 18th and work with us until August 13th.

If you have a study abroad trip or something else planned that extends past those start or end dates, that's okay! You should still apply. We love adventure, and we're willing to flex start/end dates depending on your circumstances.

Interns are on the clock for 32 hours/week, usually Monday through Thursday.

We work 8-hour days — usually around 9:00am–5:00pm, but some folks prefer to start earlier or end later. We generally ask interns to be in the office by around 9:00am or so on workdays to get the most out of the internship and be as involved in the work as possible.

Yes! We offer $15/hour.

If at all possible, yes. We’re excited to have interns join us at Lemonly HQ in downtown Sioux Falls this summer — it’s a great space. We’re happy to bribe you here with office snacks, free-flowing coffee, and a few fun outings throughout the summer, including a happy hour specifically dedicated to celebrating our interns.

It's not a deal-breaker if you can’t be in Sioux Falls this summer, but our interns typically get more out of the experience if they can connect with the Lemonheads in the office. Past interns have commuted to Sioux Falls from as far as Vermillion or Brookings, sometimes even carpooling with other students with internships in Sioux Falls. Others stay with friends/family in town for the summer or find short-term housing.

Fun fact: 2024 Slice intern (now full-time Lemonhead) Deirdre moved from Cincinnati to SD for the summer to do her internship with us.

For sure! Just give us the paperwork to fill out.

Nope! We’ve had plenty of recent graduates be interns, too.

You can definitely apply. We typically select interns with a bit more experience in their major, but it all comes down to skills and fit.

Nope, we've got you covered! Interns are outfitted with a laptop, monitor, and full workstation here at Lemonly HQ.
