New Lemonhead alert! Music lover and travel fanatic Carly Vavra is the newest addition to the Lemonly team, joining our growing account service team as an account coordinator. With a background in real estate and account service, she’s already a pro at coordinating projects, organizing calendars, and overseeing our tried-and-true Lemonly process.

We’re stoked to have her aboard, so we welcomed her to the team with a classic Q&A to help fans, friends, and clients get to know her a little better.

Carly Vavra, Account Coordinator

Tell us a little about your background.

I grew up in Yankton, South Dakota, where I ran cross country and track and spent a ton of time by the lake and the river. For college, I ventured super far away (i.e., two towns over) to the University of South Dakota, where I got my bachelor’s degree in business administration. I started off my professional career in real estate but made the leap to marketing a few years ago.

Real estate?! Are there skills you learned there that you bring to agency life?

Right out of college, I started as an intern at a property management company and later joined full time doing a variety of things: leasing, maintenance, owner relations, training new employees, etc. I worked at a realty company for a bit and learned even more about real estate. While working at both of those places, I was able to tailor my project management and organizational skills that have helped me thus far in agency life.

What’s your favorite app? (Appetizers and mobile apps are both fair game.)

Oh boy. I’d have to pick a few:

  • Zillow: My real estate experience sparked a few long-term goals, including house flipping! I love scrolling through properties on Zillow and imagining how I would transform them.
  • Spotify: I have music playing for about 90% of the day, every day, and the app’s curated playlists are top-notch. Spotify really gets me, ya know? Or maybe that’s just the algorithm. Whatever! I will also mention that Spotify is superior to Apple Music, and I’m willing to die on that hill.
  • Onion rings: These are truly top-tier, especially if they’re perfectly crispy and paired with homemade Hidden Valley Ranch.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy reading, watching rockumentaries, enjoying a patio beer, and solving all kinds of puzzles — jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, New York Times mini-games, you name it. I love being active and like to run, play sand volleyball in the summer, and snowboard in the winter. Traveling is also a huge passion of mine, so I’m always researching new places to explore.

Tell us about a favorite adventure you’d had or place you’ve traveled to.

My favorite place to travel so far is Prague, Czech Republic. I think it is an underrated city in Europe that is often overshadowed by other popular vacation destinations. The locals are extremely nice and hospitable, and the gothic architecture is on another level. There are plenty of kolaches and beer to go around, too! I am Czech, so maybe I’m a little biased. 😉

Do you have any pets?

A dog, a.k.a Stella, a.k.a the light of my life.

What’s your favorite genre of music to work to?

Depends on my mood, but my defaults are ‘70s and R&B. My favorite artists are The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, SZA, Chris Stapleton, and Frank Ocean.

Name something on your bucket list.

I’d love to visit any of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Within the next five years, I want to make the trek to Machu Picchu. It’s a 25-mile hike to the actual site, and there’s a high chance it’s too foggy to see the full view, but I think the journey there would be just as rewarding.

What is one thing about yourself that would surprise people?

I’m very competitive. I love playing board games, card games, or pretty much anything sports-related. While winning isn’t everything, it’s definitely more fun than losing.

What drew you to Lemonly?

Even before I graduated from college, I was interested in Lemonly and wanted to be part of it. The company has a great reputation thanks to its sweet culture and excellent work.

I could go on, but to summarize, the main attractions were the culture, client roster, and involvement in the community. The fact that lemon is one of my favorite flavors is just a bonus. 😉🍋

What’s your favorite part of the office so far?

The Lemonheads, for sure. I’m excited to be surrounded by people who are truly following the Better Every Day mantra. Everyone has been so welcoming, and I can’t wait to grow here.

Name one dream client and why Lemonly should work with them.

Spotify. They're a global company with tons of reach, and Lemonly could make a killer Spotify Wrapped each year.

What question are you dying to answer that we haven’t asked?

Favorite coffee?

What’s the answer?

Cold brew. Anytime. Anywhere.

If you had to pick one for the rest of your life: burritos or pizza? Why?

Pizza! 🍕

And on that cool and caffeinated note, we’ll call it a day. We can’t wait to see Carly’s impact on our playlists, our culture, and our clients.
